Attendance & Punctuality

At Frogmore, we are committed to providing an exceptional education in an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to succeed. We know that strong partnerships between students, families, and staff are fundamental to achieving the best possible outcomes.

We are proud to have been recognised by the Fischer Family Trust (FFT) as being among the top-performing schools nationally for attendance. This achievement reflects the positive culture we have built together, where students are engaged in their learning, families actively support attendance, and staff work tirelessly to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Excellent attendance is a key factor in academic success, personal development, and wellbeing. By attending school regularly, students can fully participate in learning, build strong relationships, and make the most of the opportunities available to them. This recognition highlights our shared commitment to ensuring every student is present, engaged, and ready to thrive.

Reporting student absences

If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please notify the school before 08:15 and leave a message on the answerphone. You can do this by calling 01252 408444 and selecting option 1.

If we do not receive notification of your child’s absence, the school will contact you directly.

For scheduled absences, the school must be informed in advance. Please email attendance@frogmorecollege.co.uk providing the details. For safeguarding reasons, students must sign in and out at reception when arriving at school after tutor time or leaving early.

Wherever possible, we ask that appointments are booked for after 14:00 to minimise disruption to learning. If someone other than a parent or carer is collecting your child, including older siblings, please include this information in your email.

When emailing the attendance team, please include your child’s name and tutor group in the subject line along with the date and full details of the reason for the absence request in the email body.

When your child returns, they are expected to catch up on any missed classwork or homework by speaking directly with their subject teachers. Please note that we do not send work home during absence periods.

Punctuality expectations

Arriving Late to School

Punctuality is important for a positive start to the day and for supporting strong academic progress.

If a student arrives late to school, they must sign in at reception using the electronic registration system. Parents/carers must inform the school in advance of any lateness and provide a valid reason. Students arriving late do not need to be accompanied by an adult.

Where a student is late to tutor time without a valid reason, a detention will be issued for the following day (15:05 – 16:00).

Arriving Late to Lesson

Where a student is over 4 minutes late to a lesson without a valid reason, a detention will be issued for the following day (15:05 – 16:00).

Where a student is over 10 minutes late to a lesson without a valid reason, this will be classed as truancy and there will be a consequence in line with the school’s behaviour policy.

Repeated lateness will be referred to the student’s Director of Year, and a meeting with you and your child will be arranged to improve their punctuality.

Leave of absence requests

We strongly discourage absence during term time. Family holidays during school time can have a significant impact on a student’s learning and progress and will not be authorised and will be recorded as unauthorised absence.

Please be aware that persistent unauthorised absence may result in a Penalty Notice being issued in line with Hampshire County Council guidance.
